XQuery is currently a W3C working draft and it's on track to be released this year.

Dana Florescu of Oracle, co-editor of the XQuery spec, participated in a panel discussion with four other database gurus about XQuery, XQJ and SQL/XML databases. The panel discussion is available as two podcasts. If you don't have an iPod, you can listen with programs that play MP3 audio, such as QuickTime Player, Windows Media Player.

The discussion covers XQuery, XQJ, native XML databases, SQL/XML databases and related topics.

The part 1 podcast focuses primarily on XQuery (running time: 34:03). The part 2 podcast covers native XML databases and XML-enabled SQL databases. Running time is 22:46.
