Greetings,

I'm using v 9.2.0.2 on WinNT sp6.
I have a table with a column of sys.xmltype. Users are allowed to enter data in one of the nodes. In order to prevent an empty nodes if the user clears the column, I try and use
(xpath,NVL(columnName,to_clob('<![CDATA]>' ) in the updatexml to restore the node, but it escapes and returns the literal CDATA

Does anyone know of a workaround?

Thanks,
