Materialized Views + User defined Functions

We want to use MATERIALIZED VIEWS to overcome performance problems with
views processing Millions of records.


We are currently using Oracle Enterprise 8.1.7.



One of my friends mentioned that M-View does not recognise User Defined
functions.



Can anyone confirm if this is truly the fact.   If that is the case, Is
there a work around for this problem.
