I call 'em as I see 'em. And the request is patently offensive. It is the moral equivalent of meeting an accountant at a party and asking him to do your taxes for free while waiting for dinner to be served.

I am the first to jump in an help people at no charge when they need a pointer or two. And in that vein I donate substantial time to non-profits for which I receive no pay such as the Washington Software Alliance and the Puget Sound Oracle User's Group. But to ask what the OP asked ... amazing ... just amazing.

To be charitable I've no doubt the poor sod was given a job for which he is unqualified and is trying to keep his head above water ... just trying to survive. And for that I have sympathy and hold no malice. But the request was way over the line I think a reasonable person would draw.
