How do i get SQL command line? (i think it's right)

In every book, on every site when reffering to results from a querry, the author will show those nice formatted tables. This far i believed it was only pedagogic trick but i've also seen a "comman line"-thingy recently.

SQL> Select * From ThisOrThat

Is that feature (to only SQL for a while) available if i have Oracle 9iAS installed (the big one with everything, about 3CD:s)?

As for now i simply write a Java code that retreives the data and displays it to me but writing the programs (JTable mainly) is getting pretty unfun. This is good training but somewhat overkill if i only want to learn SQL, don't you think.
