Is it Possible to get number and names of tables/columns?

Don't tell me how to - just if it's possible. It's more fun to find out that by myself. One will learn better if forced to go the hard way. I'd like merely to ensure myself that the thing IS possible so i won't get frustrated and bold thereof :)
