Hi,

Yes, I unset LANG and LC_ALL and LC_CTYPE etc. When I mount the installation disks with nfs on another machine and start runInstaller, I have no problems at all. But both machines use the same libc, ldso etc. I dont believe that this is a hardware problem, because we had allready 8.1.7 running on this machine for over a year.

I have the output of strace if somebody is interested in.
