What do you type in to connect through the SQL Plus?  on the BDE try leaving
the server name blank (that tells Oracle to look in the local machine).



On some programs you cannot leave the server parameter blank, so you have to
create a Net8 alias for the local machine (by specifying the bequeath
protocol, or even TCP/IP address 127.0.0.1 will work), use the net8 alias as
a last resort, no need to complicate things!.
