Hi Michael,
thanks for your reply, but I think, you are wrong.
With v$nls_parameters, you get NLS_CHARACTERSET,
which is the characterset of the database, not the one, your
client is using in fact
(just set NLS_LANG=america_american.us7ascii, use sqlplus
and query v$nls_parameters, it will show you the characterset
of the database)
