Sean,

Once you know how to do stuff using the 'command line' in SQLPlus then you will know how to use other tools. I use TOAD on a daily basis. This is a Tool for Oracle Applications Developers and is truly wonderful. It comes as a 'pay lots of money' version from www.quest.com and also as a freeware version (slightly restricted in the tuning/debugging & DBA facilities) which expires every 60 days - you then download a new version. This you get from www.toadsoft.com. It also has an egroups support mailing list which you can join. (See you there !)

Hope this helps - hang on in there with SQLPlus though - you need to know the basics before trying out any of the fancy stuff.

Regards, Norman.
