Maybe Oracle stuff is just too difficult for you.

Like "most DBAs", I trying to add SYBASE (/ms-sql) to my belt because it's a far better skill to have than Oracle.

But help me out a little,
how do you implement this in MS-SQL / SYBASE:

create function my_func (a_param in number) returns STRING :
:

so that I could use

my_string := my_func (1);

I can't seem to find that in the spectacular TRANSACT SQL manual.
