Read text file using Forms 6

Hi,

I am trying to read a text file residing on the operating system to a text item in Oracle Forms 6. I was able to read an image file by using the read_image_file procedure and I was also able to read a text file through text_io package but when I assigned the text item (filled by text_io package) to a CLOB field in the database, it removed all the new line and carriage return characters and make it a single line. I am using Oracle 8i on Solaris as the database server.

Any help will be appreciated.
