Any of Oracle's supported protocols-- ODBC, OLEDB, OO4O, JDBC, OCI, etc. directly or through higer-level API's (i.e. ADO) will work with a V7 database, at least all do now.

When v7 is eventually desupported, I suspect that these groups will stop testing with v7 databases, so problems will eventually crop up. I don't keep up on what versions are supported and when different versions are scheduled for de-support, so I won't speculate about time-frames. Even after v7 is desupported, I would expect that these protocols would still function correctly when connected to a v7 database for quite a while.
