Oracle 8.1.5 question on Compaq 5500

Hi,
I try to create database on Compaq proliant 5500 machine with 4 CPU but machine crashes frequently I guess that it because of machine configuration but I heard that Sybase database has similar problems because compaq 5500 uses its own drivers and they install patch to solve this question so My question is does Oracle need any patch in order to run on Compaq proliant 5500 machine with 4 CPU or not?
