Oracle networking problem

Hi,

I have just installed Oracle Lite on my PC which is part of a LAN. The LAN consist of the PC which is the client, and a Linux box which is the server.

Oracle Lite is on the PC because the Linux Box doesn't have the right hardware to run it. The PC and Linux box are connected over a 100MB ether net and I'm also running SAMBA.

The problem is I can't get Oracle Lite to start up. If I run SQLPlus and try to log in as scott or system, then I get the error code: "ORA-12203 TNS unable to connect to destination".

Also I have tried to set up "net8 easy setup" but that doesn't work either for the same reason.

Can someone point me in the right direction.

thanks, jw
