Yup,

It installs fine (eventually after fiddling around with the registry and copying files over half way through installation) but it is very unstable.

I want/have to use 8i/webdb and intermedia for a client's web site and I can't get it going.

We have tried on 3 or 4 differnet machines - the latest in a Dell poweredge with 18G drive, 2G ram, twin 550 Pentium 3's.

Sybase works like a dream on it. (I tried Sybase trial install after 4 months fiddling with Oracle).

Why do I have to manually go into the registry? Why do I have to copy tnsnames.ora half way through the install? Why do I have to change the path variable after product installs? Why is Oracle such a pig?

I just worked out that this Oracle install has cost my company >$200,000 in addition to the licenses and support purchased. I find Oracle support unbelievably bad - they want $1800/day to come and install a product that should install out of the box.

I am amazed, esp. with so much RDBMS experience, that Oracle will not install at all on NT.
