Now I buy both what Van and Eugene put in their last posts. Experimenting or trying to fix corrupt redo logs is a good reason for using RESETLOGS. I'd still like Argosy (the original poster) to tell us why he's trying to open with RESETLOGS after a cold backup. So Argosy, if you are listening, why???????????
