Actually, we should be bashing the consumers who blindly buy things based on nothing but marketing info and hype. Can anyone actually tell me what Windows 2000 does that I didn't have on my desk 15 years ago with a Sun 2 (68020 based) and SunOS or AFS? Not much. Over 15 years hardware has advanced by light years yet software has just gotten bigger and buggier. Who do you think has been driving that trend? The biggest advance in software (in the consumer market) has been in games. Look at a flight simulator from 15 years ago compared to a new one, big difference. Funny, I never liked Microsoft's flight simulator either, I prefer to actually shoot things.
