DBMS_PIPE and startup/shutdown

We use a unix shell that calls sqlplus and the DBMS_PIPE package to run unix commands from Oracle 8 on AIX.

I need this script to start whenever Oracle is strted up and shutdown whenever Oracle is shutdown.

Any advice?
