I have the same problem...
you say you created the database using dbassist...
Did yo really create the database...or just the scripts that, when
executed, create the database.
I tried to created the database using the scripts created by dbassist...with nothing but a lot of "ORA-01013: not logged on" messages.
i tried this logged on to linux as oracle.oinstall, which userid i also have as a member of the dba group.
Another thing...when i do
svrmgrl
connect internal
startup
i get "ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters"
