oracle 8.0 application

I am working on an Oracle application, which was written with Oracle 7.3.2 OCI APIs. Last year we ported it to work with Oracle 8.0. This time I am trying to make it work with Oracle8i (i.e. same as Oracle 8.1.5) But it wont connect to Oracle Server. Then I tried to recompile and relink my application with Oracle8i OCI library. It complains abt one unresolved symbol "upiver()". What do I need to do to make this connect to Oracle8i server. Please help.
