Procedures CAN return values - via the parameters. Parameters
can be IN, OUT or IN/OUT.
So - just define an OUT or IN/OUT parameter! :-) Keep in mind

IN - CANNOT assign ANYTHING to it inside the procedure. OUT - initialize to NULL before the call as the procedure expects it to have no value until one is assigned.
IN/OUT - can have a value and the value can be changed.
