Object-oriented API for Oracle8 under UNIX? (newbie)

[forgive this (possibly) duplicated post...our ISP is having problems with their news server]

Is there an object-oriented API for Oracle (8.0.5) C++ clients under Digital UNIX? (not for retreiving and manipulating objects within the database, but merely an object-based API to the database...somelike DAO or ADO offers for the Microsoft world?)

Thanks,
