hi there,

i tried to insert data (a string) into a column of a table. this string has some german "umlauts" like the letters "ä", "ö", "ü" (i hope you can read them like this). well, after inserting them to the column, oracle 7.3.3 saved those letters as "a", "o", "u". it just translated the umlauts to normal letters and this is something that has to get changed.

does anybody here know what to do to tell oracle that it should keep umlauts just the way they are?

thanks in advance,
