I have been running the 5 user Oracle 8 that ships with NetWare on both a 4.11 and a 5 box. I find that (depending on load) the base requirement is 64MB of RAM. I tried it with 32, but got some short term allocation errors when I had 5 people connected and all of them hammering the database. The upgrade was worth the price of admission if only for the performance! If you plan on running any Oracle add-ons, get ready to shell out the bucks....I've installed WebDB, and the ConText cartridge, and had to bump it up to 128. I'm thinking of going to 256 shortly to boost the speed a little. It's a memory hog, but the stability and reliability of it makes it worthwhile. Convince the boss that Oracle will smoke Access, or any other wannabe database out there, and in the long run, it's cheaper in admin costs, and medical bills for the poor sap maintaining the DB...and his new ulcers.
