Hello Susanne

I have just finished installing Oracle 8.0.5 on an AIX machine. I didnt have any prior unix experience. I would never have made it without the very nice step by step installation guide from Oracle. Still it took me well over a week ! I mean , what do you do when suddenly it says that the RDBMS wouldnt compile and then the installations stops? That one costed a couple of days.

Compared to NT a unix installion demands much more OS related setup, before and after the installation.
Anyway, get an installation guide.

Wish you luck!
Peter
