First off...Sparc 5?? Well, it's better than an NT Box. (joking...well kinda). Second...It's the Oracle person's job to install it...Don't u think?

Ok, with that off my chest... Included in the box that the CD came in, there should be an Installation Guide which has 8 chapters on installing Oracle. I checked out Oracle's web site, and found little help on Installing Oracle. Oracle is kinda tricky to install and also, must be thought out before installing. If you are going to install database objects, where do you want them to reside? Do you want MTS automatically configured? ect. If your Oracle person is a DBA, and you are a sysadmin, have your dba to install it.
