Hmm...

I'm a UNIX S.A. on a range of RS6000s (F50's and S70's), and I also do the Oracle DBA work.

I can't quite see where the 250M of disk came from - that seems mighty excessive just for the *SQL Net client*. Are you sure it's that, and not the entire server binary? Look in the Oracle Install Guide for AIX - it has the space requirements in it for each installable package. Check with your Oracle guy just which ones he wants.

Ditto, I'm not sure which 'AIX kernel extensions' you mean. The 'post wait' kernel extensions and async I/O support would only be required for a server install, to the best of my knowledge. Again, read up the install guide.
