Oracle Export and Server utilities

Hi all,

We are using Oracle Workgroup 7.3 on Windows NT 4.0 (English). Some of our data
are Chinese (Simplified Chinese charset), and hence after installation, we use the trick of modifying the registry NLS_LANG parameter from an American charset to a Simplified Chinese charset. The effect is when we use utilities like export or svrmgr23
etc, we export in Chinese charset but the display such as the prompting for a password
are in English.

However, now I reinstall the server utilities from the installer (I have tried both
cases when I set the registry NLS_LANG parameter to a Chinese or an American charset),
export is done in Chinese charset, but the display are also in Chinese unless I explicitly set the session's NLS_LANG parameter.

Why is this so? Are there any workarounds?

Many thanks.

Rgds., fan.
ps. Pls cc: the reply to me in addition to posting a reply. Many thanks. Received on Tue May 12 1998 - 10:51:38 CDT
