Dear Group,

Greetings. I've run into a snag in my Personal Oracle 8 install. Can anyone help? I know I need more memory, but before I run to the store I'd like some advice.

The problem is this: Runme.bat doesn't run right.

I've downloaded the 46(!!)file with batch program option. All files are in a folder together. I've checked file size againest the stated download size and they appear reasonably close.

My box is a plain vanilla P166/ 3.1gig/16meg RAM with 512K cache and what appears well constructed with lots of other hardware bells and whistles(this is my 2nd PC). Except for the RAM, it appears to more than meet the basic requirements.

However, when I try to run RUNME.BAT(whether by doubleclicking,  thru Explorer, or on the "Run" command I always get the same result: A DOS window pops up and prints out an echo of most of the "rem-ed out" comments followed by a "Bad Command or file name" error message.

Calling up the contents of the batch file thru Dos-Edit shows that, after a brief description and listing of file contents(all remmed-out) there follows a simple listing of the .exe files each of which is followed by this symbology -0 that is, a dash followed by a zero or an "o".

Is my problem just that I need more RAM?
Is this -0 a batch command?
Where do I go from here?

BTW, I'm running a licenced version of W95. Which is otherwise as
smooth as any Bill Gates product could ever be.

		Thanks in advance,

P.S. Any chance of a reply tonight? Oracle rules! and I want to learn as fast as I can. Received on Sat Jan 31 1998 - 00:00:00 CST
