Non-blocking OCI function ognfd

Anybody know what the function ognfd() does? Its grouped in the non-blocking mode section of the ociapr.h include. I can't find it in the Oracle 7.3.3 documentation. On the same subject, when using non-blocking mode how do you query the server to determine if the last OCI function is complete?
