Help posting adjustment to Oracle A/R

We're trying to post adjustments to Oracle A/R from our customer care application.

We have been told that it is impossible to post an adjustment through the interface tables, we have to use debit/credit memos. Is this really true???

How can we post a true adjustment to Oracle A/R from our custom applications?
