Viewing the server commands

IIRC, the show command is implemented in the MySQL monitor
(the MySQL command-line client), not in the MySQL server.

IIRC, the show command is implemented in the MySQL monitor
(the MySQL command-line client), not in the MySQL server.
How can I see the commands the MySQL monitor actually sends to the MySQL server?
(Maybe using cURL as a man in the middle with a log file?
But which command-line switches do I need to use for cURL?)
