Hey, Jared!

My personal take is that there are still enough "ill-behaved" applications out there that having at least SOME swap allocated is a "defensive best practice".

Among other things, the consequences of NOT having it can be extreme.

Maybe not the "old standard" 2x RAM; but at least some cushion that would allow someone monitoring the system (you DO monitor that, right) to find and fix issue before they become a "problem".

That is the question.

I am curious about current thoughts on having or not having a swap partition on Linux based Oracle servers.

Let's assume typical production standard servers with a reasonable amount of RAM, sway 256G or more.

I have some thoughts on this myself, but would like to see others' thoughts on this.
