IMHO the LUN size is determined by two main factors: * Vendor recommendations based on storage sub system specs/internals (e.g. IBM XIV works best in a different LUN - size - configuration than with IBM SVC, etc.) * Amount of I/Os that need to be spread across all LUNs (queue depth)

Never heard of any issues with GPT but please be aware of partition offset with various configuration, e.g. https://infohub.delltechnologies.com/l/oracle-asm-on-scaleio-best-practices-4/partition-offset-4
