Hi Stefan,

The option -follow_execv traces children (I should have read help more thoroughly before asking).

There isn't a difference between "sys/manager" and "/" when everything goes well - the function ksulbem gets called in both cases.

But in the case of ORA-12269, kserecl0 gets called by ksulbem.

We're now running pin debugtrace in a loop and will examine the trace upon error:

pin -follow_execv -t source/tools/DebugTrace/obj-intel64/debugtrace.so -- sqlplus sys/manager as sysdba

Best regards,

Nenad

Hi Nenad,
I never tested it but I don't think so - at least the pin documentation just mentions execv() and not fork().

[root_at_OEL85 pin-3.21-98484-ge7cd811fd-gcc-linux]# ./pin -help Pin: pin-3.21-98484-e7cd811fd

Usage: pin [OPTION] [-t <tool> [<toolargs>]] -- <command line> Use -help for a description of options

General switches
...
-follow_execv [default 0]

Execute with Pin all processes spawned by execv class system calls ...

Anyway you can use a combination of eBPF (or SystemTap) to intercept the fork() and then attach with pin.
