As far as I can see, that's not going to work.

Both the 19c install and preinstall RPMs are not available for OL8. If you try to fake it by grabbing the OL7 versions they don't work.

  • The 19c RPM (oracle-database-ee-19c-1.0-1.x86_64.rpm) needs to preinstall RPM to be present. If you attempt to --skip-broken, it says there is noting to do.
  • The preinstall RPM refuses to install on ol8 because of dependency issues. If you --skip-broken, it says there is noting to do.

So without a bunch of messing about, it doesn't look like this will work until they release the official RPMs.

The regular media does work, as linked above.

Note. I'm sure there is a way to be clever and fol this into working, but it's probably a long road, and takes even further away from a "simple solution". :)

As always, it's not supported yet, so this is just playtime...
