OEM registration from dbca errors out

Hi All,
Greetings of the day. When i try to register the database as part of dbca database creation, i get the error "Could not find Oracle Management Agent on this host for the given Oracle Management Service (OMS)..." However, my OEM is UP and running and there are no firewall rules stopping the connection. telnet from client machine to oem machine shows successful connection on port 4903. Tried ip of oem machine and get the same error message. Tried other ports listed in output of emctl status oms -details and still the same error. Did not find any useful hints on Oracle support. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
