Hi

I think control files management is so low level that Oracle didn't spend time taking care of the scenario of online changes to control_files - loss of 1 at least. It was most likely done as a compromise to code complexity long-long time ago. It would be a good improvement to availability to allow online control_file changes I think. However I've no idea if it's something doable at all.
ER anyone?
