Hey Martin and Lothar,
well the issue that the result_cache hint was not considered via SQL patch was fixed by patch for bug #16974854. There are one-off patches and it is
already included in 12.1.0.2. However in this special case another result cache limitation kicks in:

Results cannot be cached when the following objects or functions are in a query:
- Temporary tables and tables in the SYS or SYSTEM schemas
