We are just getting into running Oracle on a Linux cluster. The SAs create the cluster and l create the database. We are using Oracle 12.1.0.2. Last night, something strange happened and I can't figure out what to do to fix it. The database is running on node A, but the log files (alert log, trace files, etc.) are only on node B. The database files are being updated on both nodes. The DNS listener that is used to access the database thinks the database is running on node B, so anything using that to connect fails (CommVault backups failed because it couldn't find the database up on node B).

Unfortunately, the key SA is out today and the others don't know anything about the Linux cluster. Is there anything I can do to get it straightened out or do I have to wait for him to get back on Monday?

From node A:

oracle_at_prosamtest02a:PSAMTEST>ps -ef | grep smon oracle 60180 19859 0 14:54 pts/1 00:00:00 grep --color=auto smon oracle 117329 1 0 Feb11 ? 00:00:00 ora_smon_PSAMTEST oracle_at_prosamtest02a:PSAMTEST> cd $BDUMP
-ksh: cd: /oracle/data/admin/PSAMTEST/diag/rdbms/psamtest/PSAMTEST/trace: [No such file or directory]
oracle_at_prosamtest02a:PSAMTEST>

From node B:

oracle_at_prosamtest02b:PSAMTEST>ps -ef | grep smon oracle 54002 130642 0 14:55 pts/2 00:00:00 grep --color=auto smon oracle_at_prosamtest02b:PSAMTEST>cd $BDUMP oracle_at_prosamtest02b:PSAMTEST>pwd
/oracle/PSAMTEST/admin/diag/rdbms/psamtest/PSAMTEST/trace oracle_at_prosamtest02b:PSAMTEST>
