We're running Oracle database on 10.2 asm/clusterware now.
But we have filesystems that use OCFS for sharing data - such as external tables, datapumps, rman backups etc between the 3 nodes.
It's the OCFS filesystems OUTSIDE the database I'm interested in clustering with something other than OCFS.

He's saying you could upgrade your ASM/clusterware to 11.2, without messing w/ your 10.2.0.4 database, and then have ACFS filesystem available to you.
And yes, running 10.2.0.4 db on 11.2 ASM/clusterware is a supported configuration, though it may be more time and complexity than you're willing to invest, to move away from OCFS.

I assume we're talking about ASM clustered filesystem ACFS? I thought that was only in 11?
We're using ASM for the datafiles (etc) in RAC.

ASM is what most RAC clusters use. Is there a reason why you are not using ASM?
