Thanks for replying Andy. I somehow missed reading the reply. But today again I was applying a PSU and it reminded me. In either case, the downtime would be same isnt it ? Lets say, its patched in the order as you mentioned and lets say it takes 10 minutes to patch each DB home and 15 minutes to patch the GI home. In that case:

dbhome_1 will be down for 45 min (10+10+10+15) dbhome_2 will be down for 35 min (10+10+15) dbhome_3 will be down for 25 min (10+15)
In case if the GI home is patched first then too it would be the same because once GI home is patches, we can first patch dbhome_3 which means it will be down for 25 min (15+10), then we patch dbhome_2, so it'll be down for 35 min (15+10+10) and then dbhome_1 so it'll be down for 45 min (15+10+10+10).
