You'll probably want to read Note 437924.1 which covers shared pool sizing and ASM. In your version Oracle has started adjusting the value of the processes parameter based on the hardware you are running on. This results in 11.2.0.3 ASM needing more memory than may be set. There's a formula at the bottom of the note for sizing shared_pool for ASM in 11.2.0.3, our experience however is that you want to allocate more memory than that calculation. We've settled on 1g of shared pool for 64bit servers with 12-16 intel cores. I haven't yet done enough investigation to determine the factors that influence shared pool usage in ASM (My shortlist is client process count, disk group count, disk group size, disk count, disk size)
