Accessing APEX from outside the firewall

We are running APEX 4.0 with Glassfish and the APEX Listener. We would like to be able to access APEX from outside the firewall. Can you point me to some configuration steps on doing this. I found a mention on the APEX site that the APEX listener would be inside the firewall and not outside but that's it.
