ASSM suffer from insert contention for big tables under high DML rate while it tries to add multiple extents. If you don't have big tables (over 50G or so) with high DML, stay with ASSM, other wise freelists/freelist groups combination would be better. I'm not sure whether ASSM enhanced in 11.2, but I doubt it as the underlying insert contention for big tables was tied to ASSM design.
