I’ve migrated databases across endian conversions before using the various methods. I’ve never touched a retek database though so I’m looking for gotchas and best practices so speed up the learning curve.

Thanks,

Ken

1,5TB - it will take some time...

I have no knowledge of Retek, but when considering endian change take a look for rman

When considering datapump notice network_link option.

Transportable tablespace is not an option in 10g.

Seems like sql loader has something for endian change, but your data is allready inside a database.

A friend of mine is interested in migrating a 10g Retek 1.5tb database across platforms that involves and endian change. Has anyone done this, or know of white papers addressing this topic? Can it be done via transportable tablespaces or does it have to be data pump due to the TT restrictions on self-contained tablespaces. Does Retek store objects in the system tablespace similar to EBS?

Thanks,

Ken
