Hi

I have worked with backtrack and its very good piece of software but i have used it only in non rac and non asm environments.

Prior to 11g rman did not have the feature to clone from a active database while backtrack always had it.

restore also is possible using GUI.

Have you tried contacting BMC support and what they have to say on 11g and ASM.

regards

Hello all,

I'm working in a new company where BMC SQL Backtrack is used instead of RMAN for all database operations. I've seen many bugs and issues regarding this software and seems not able to use all RMAN possible features in particular with 11g versions and ASM.

I'm not able to understand how Backtrack performs backup of a tablaspace. I'm sure tablespace is not taken in backup mode. Also does anyone has used Backtrack API to use RMAN command line and backup to a remote TSM server maybe? Is this possibile? I've read manuals but seems not really precise about this question and working way in general.

Any hints or opinion about this product are welcome.

Thanks
Stefano
