Hi All,
I was wondering whether anyone has used 9i streams to facilitate a migration across platforms for a VLDB - approximately 4TB. I need to migrate a 9i database from Solaris 8 to HP-UX 11.31. I've had a look at the various options for migration across platforms - bearing in mind this is 9i and downtime will be at 6 hours - it appears that perhaps, streams is the best option available (unless anyone has some experience they are willing to share). That said, does anyone have any experience in a similar activity (leveraging streams) or at least in cross platform migration for large 9i databases they would be willing to share?
What I'm concerned about is instantiating this large database and whether streams will be able to catch up (Have yet to test it), so if anyone has some great ideas on how to say leverage export/import - like multiple export to pipe, import from pipe sessions - I would love to hear em.
On
a side note, does anyone have any numbers for how long its taken them to export import databases in the terabyte range? I do realize this would differ from case to case, but any numbers at this point would be helpful.
Thanks
