Re: REDO LOG Concepts

I think both LGWR and ARC processes keep all the log files open, because I could do a log file switch and generate archive logs. But is there any way to see what all processes have lock on the redo log files in Solaris?

Would like to know which process does UTL_FILE use/spawn to create/access files? Is n't it the Oracle Server process? If yes, in my experiment I had deleted the datafile and could read the tables on that datafile. Then why can't the we copy the files through UTL_FILE?

Please share your thoughts.
